Titanium is one of the most common metals on earth, but it does not occur naturally in this elemental form.<\/p><p>When used as a pigment Titanium dioxide is used as a colorant to enhance and brighten the color of white foods such as dairy products, candy, frosting, and the powder on donuts. &#8230; With current research and industry recommendations, titanium dioxide is a safe food additive. In food, TiO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0is used in pigment grade and called E171. In many food products it acts as a whitener, but also as a color and texture enhancer.
